How do you get what you want?
Are you mean, or are you nice? If you have no concern beyond right now, then being mean could work. But we all know what’s more successful over time.

I’m a volunteer tutor for some great students. Many of them will be the first in their family to go to college. And many of them are capable of great things. But on paper? They look like every other kid.
What you look like on paper matters. If you haven’t done yet, no one is going to assume that you can. Show people what you can do by actually doing it.
